Is being loyal blinding you?
Is being loyal blinding you? Even as l turn 40 l am still learning things about myself. Loyalty is one of my values l hold dear to myself, l pride myself on being loyal to those who l love and respect. What l have learnt about myself recently is that loyalty can also be blinding. What do l mean by this? I loved being loyal, l loves showing support and l loved being on the team (let’s call it A) Team A. When a comment was made, or a story was told l immediately would jump on T

How do you work?
I try to make every Tuesday the day l sit down and write a blog piece. After l have written l think to myself, ‘wow l have got a week to get the next one day, I’ll try to get it done by Friday!’ Then the next thing that l know l am back at Tuesday thinking, ‘arrrrr l didn’t do it.’ I was talking to a beautiful client yesterday, and we spoke about timing and getting things done. Some people, work better with a deadline, while others like to get it done straight away. For me,

How much are you willing to put in?
Setting goals is the easy part, putting the work in now that’s the hard part. Writing your goals down on paper makes everything seem so easy, but then when it comes time to do the real steps, it’s not as easy. The temptation will always be there, the cutting of corners, or the little bit of chocolate, or the short track home from what’s meant to be a 5km run. How important is it for you to reach the goal? Is the goal worth you putting all the effort in or just doing half the

Decisions.
Making a decision can be the easiest or the hardest thing that you need to do in a moment. So decisions can be made easier by knowing what is right for you and what you want to achieve. Others well are harder due to fear. Fear of what? Fear of the unknown, fear of not knowing what is around the corner, and fear that it may be the wrong decision to make. Change can be a super scary thing to face head-on. We get so comfortable in what we know, what we do, and how we do it -

How do you prepare for the unknown?
Comp prep, how do you prepare for something that you don’t know the outcome to? Being a competitive Weightlifter, you need to be comp ready, when you need to be comp ready. There are no second chances on the day so how do l prep for this? I work every day on my Mindset. I find if l miss a day l go backwards, mentally. Mental preparation needs to be done daily, without putting the work in daily, it is like turning up to run a marathon without any practice kms on your legs.

How much time are you willing to give?
There has been so much excitement going on in our house lately. We have recently renovated our kitchen. Nothing to fancy, no huge changes but we do have some beautiful new cabinets and a stunning island. One of our friends came to help put the new kitchen in. He is a cabinet maker by trade but he is also a craftsman. I watched as he would look at the product, touch, and then say how much the door or the shelf was out by. He would then grab his tape measure to double-check

VALUED!
I found myself avoiding writing this blog post this week. For some reason it was something that l kept putting off, l was finding so many other ‘FUN’ things to do. When l start to avoid things it means that there is a learning in there that l don’t or l am not ready to adventure upon. I have been giving a few different opportunities this last fortnight to reflect on how far l am have come in my personal growth. Sometimes you spend all this time working on yourself emotional

Here I Am 2021
As one year rolled into another as the fireworks woke us up on New Year’s Eve, l went about like most setting new goals and targets for myself. Working through what worked last year, what didn’t, what did l learn, what can l do better, and what would l love to achieve if l had nothing to stop me? As l started to tick the items off the list, l kept avoiding blog post writing. I kept saying to myself, ‘oh l must not be ready to face that yet?’ I am never afraid to step up for

2020
And that's a wrap for 2020… And what a year we went through, well i think we all know what we went through and l think that all that matters now, is that we are here to talk about it. Take a moment to think about what you have survived this year, think about the things that you have accomplished. Think about what you have learnt about yourself as a person and that way that you have grown. Think about the good things, the people that you love and have loved. Ask yourself what

Busy, but why?
I used to think that being ‘busy’ all the time gave me merit or credit for l am still to this today unsure of. I used to think being ‘busy’ was a way of life. I used to think that being ‘busy’ was a cool thing and that everyone noticed. I used to think that being ‘busy’ was the only way to be. I was wrong, l was wrong in so many ways. Being busy is a horrible thing. Now, in fact, it is something that l try to avoid. Being busy to me, means that l have no time for anything el

Kindness
Kindness is such a buzz word at the moment, it is really on-trend throughout the social world. When was the last time that you did something for someone and not wanting something in return? Or when was the last time you helped someone out without having an angle behind it? The definition of Kindness is, quoted from google dictionary; the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. Showing kindness doesn’t have to be in a sum of money or gift giving it can be as sim

Forgiveness
I received a phone call the other day, it was from someone l used to know. As we were on the together, l got asked, ‘l need you to forgive me…’ This has been playing over and over again in my mind. Why do l need to forgive you to help you move on with your life? To forgive to help someone feel better about themselves. I reason l ask this question is that, why do need someone else to forgive us when we are the one doing the act? There is a quote from Tom Bilyeu that l love ‘

Grounding.
I recently competed in an online Weightlifting Competition. And as l do before each comp, l get a little edgy you could say…. I get to the point l can feel my body tensing up, l am short with my answers, and l need to get out of the house. For me, l crave nature when l get like this. I crave trees, green, and water. I don’t know why l am not a beach person, maybe it has something to do with the sand. I need to go and be ‘grounded’ again. I love to find some grass, take my

Toxic Relationships
Through out the lockdown both one and two, l develop a really unhealthy relationship with Darrell Lee Mint Balls. They are SOOOOO Good! There are so many things that are great about them. The taste, the shell, the way that they fit perfectly into your mouth, and the nice minty fresh taste that they leave in your mouth. All they did was bring me joy. But the joy didn’t last. The flow-on effect on the minty goodness was not helping me reach any of my goals that l had set at th

Character…
How do you want to be remembered? Do you want to be remembered as the person who always won or do you want to be remembered for the type of person that you are? I have been having a few chats with our big one about character lately. About what type of person she wants to be, and how she treats others in this world. And understanding why people do what they do... Heading back to school and being around kids her own age, has taken some adjusting. After you have spent so much

Accountability...
Over the last lockdown, our little business put together a challenge for our members/clients. Sitting and working out the details, thinking about what would work, what wouldn’t work, and what the main goal of the challenge would be. The main goal over the second lockdown was to keep people moving. We know and understand that not everyone ‘loves’ the screen to do workouts with, and we know that people don’t want to have to ‘log-on’ again and again. What’s the simplest thing

Goals.. and You.
are you willing to do to get something that you want? I ask this question to anyone new that walks through our doors. It can be quite a confronting question. What are ‘you’ not me but you willing to do to achieve the goal that you have set out to achieve. The goal that has driven you to go to Personal Training, the goal that has made you make a decision to go work with someone. There are some that say, ‘anything, l will do anything.’ Then there are others, ‘well l just ne

Working with kids.
I have been asked lately a few times, ‘how did and do you work with a child by your side?’ Great question! Here are my tips to help get you through the next few weeks with working from home while having the littles around. In my job, everything is done on time. 30mins for a client here, 45mins there, my first tip is to let your child know what you need to do. They know you work but they don’t really understand it and they are unsure of how important work is. I would explai

How far would you go to protect a loved one?
There is so much craziness going on in the world at the moment. Is the information we receiving true? Or is it not? The health authorise are learning daily more and more about the virus. When we are learning new about new things or even a new skill we are going to make mistakes. It’s how we learn, its how we learn not to do things, or we learn that that’s not the way to go - across it off the list. If we don’t try new things or new ways, we will never know if it is the ri
