I work with ladies, who it is very rare that we speak about the scales, or measurements.

Some of the things we do speak about is, how are you going with your meals, what’s working well for you there? How are you sleeping? How is your water intake?

I get to listen to stories on how they are feeling better, more energy, feeling stronger, feeling more balanced…

That’s part of the reason why l love my job, l am so proud of all our clients and they doing fantastic job 💪

Something we love at CHPT is to be able to provide a space for people to talk. To move and let out whatever is on their mind…
I often hear, ‘I wasn’t going to talk about that today!’
‘Do you feel better about chatting out? Do you feel like you have a game plan?’ If how l would respond as a coach.
And there are times clients can say ‘No’ and that’s ok too.
You don’t always have to be ok, sometimes things just suck and smell because that’s what happens if life and being a human.
What is OK is sharing the load of what you are carrying, find your village and let them help you carry your load.

Super excited to be sharing this certificate!

This one hit close to home, not only learning about perimenopause/menopause and post for our clients but also for myself.

Having a space to learn and understand what is happening with my body is something that was missed as a teen. Hormones weren’t talk about - if you were upset, go have a glass of water - not let’s chat about what maybe happening that’s out of your control.

Allowing space for our clients to talk all things hormonal is something l value, allowing them not to feel shame or disappointment. Allowing our clients to normalise what’s going on.

Our bodies need to be celebrated as they age, not put down, not told you’re too old, not getting your wrinkles pointed at - embrace all of the changes our bodies are truly amazing with what they go through!

I am loving this stage of life, it may not be a linear process but how boring if it was 😉

Everything costs something.

Is chasing being skinny worth what it is costing you?

Are you constantly in a calorie deficit, tired, angry, emotional and that brain fog thing?

Imagine what it would be like to move your body and get stronger - fuel your body and build and create beautiful muscle - leaving the training session on a high and for what you have achieved and not punishing yourself for what you have eaten.

At CHPT we don’t focus on the skinny, we focus on creating stronger bodies.

YES, clients do come to us for weight loss, and we talk about nutrition and the emotion around food. Allowing the space to explore what is important to the client in the moment is a part of the session - it’s not the main intent….

Maybe it’s time to stop punishing yourself for not being something that someone else thinks you should be and allow yourself to enjoy movement and giving back to yourself….?

Time to give back to yourself!

Here is a neat work out to help flush the body and the soul - 20secs all in give it everything to the point you can’t give anymore - then relax for 2 mins and you get to to this for 8 rounds!

This session is in my weekly training (my meno training) and it’s a non-negotiable - in this session l think of all the things that have been really ticking me off and let it all out.

Sometimes there are tears, sometimes l want to give up but every time l finish feeling lighter emotionally then l started… oh it’s also good for burning belly fat too 😉

Shout out to Coach Bon who competed at the @irontribeclassic this afternoon.

Not only was Bon 10 years older than the other epic lifters, she managed to place 3rd and come home with 2 platform PBs 🙌

Bon hit a snatch at 73 and a clean and jerk at 93 giving her a total of 166 🏆

We are all aging and there isn’t anything wrong with that - bodies are changing, and now all of a sudden you start to hear the word ‘old’.

Wait, what, what does this mean - it means that it’s time to start talking about what’s going on with your body. There is no need to carry any shame around what’s happening on the inside that really you don’t have any control over when dealing with hormones.

What you can do is provide your body with the best support you can. Through lifting weights, Breathwork, clean nutrition and giving back to yourself.

If you are finding yourself in ‘this time of life’ and feeling a little spun out - l see you, l know exactly what you are going through.

Life happens - we get that.

Sometimes the greatest win in the personal training session is that the client has turned up and is present for the session.

And that’s ok.

Being a human isn’t easy and sometimes being constantly reminded that you SHOULD be doing better isn’t that greatest - instead we focus in the wins that the client has had for the week!

Was a track we used to play to work on our clients mental resilience;

Turning all of the lights in the gym, setting the timer for 10mins and setting the challenge to hit 200 reps.

Which will come first the timer ending or hitting the 200 reps?

Our amazing group of lads got set the challenge once 1 hit the 200 reps it meant that they could all stop.

The lights went out, and the timer started… The question left to them was, are you going to give up when it gets tough or are you going to keep pushing to get to the 200 to help your mates out…

I am so pumped to share the lads did an epic job with 2 hitting the 200mark with 3mins left on the clock!

Team work, resilience and an epic tune!

We get our clients stronger, we get our clients to reconnect with their bodies, we get our clients to develop a relationship with movement and if that happens to help shift some body mass then that’s a added bonus!

There are so many more reasons to go to the gym besides ‘besides getting skinny!’

How much better l feel with in myself, with my hormones, with the energy l want to bring to the world.
The gym hold so much more value than ‘looking good’ or ‘getting a six pack’.

It’s not too late in fact it is a perfect time to begin!

Time to let go of the body that you think you need to have and start to reconnect with the body you have now.

It is so easy to get caught up with making the excuses not to start, when we all know it’s not the excuses that are holding you back.

It’s ok to be scared and unsure, and feeling shame and guilt as well as a little bit silly over it all. Have you tried going to a session with just you, not having to see anyone else but a trainer, not having to bump into to anyone and explain what you are doing.

Having a private session might be exactly what you need to get started…..

Pilates is a fantastic session to complement Strength Training and that’s why we offer the 45min session on a Tuesday.

Pilates, Breath, Reset is a session for humans to come in a take the time to reconnect with themselves through the breath while working on core strength.
