Starting AGAIN.

Starting AGAIN.

Starting Again.

It is never easy, to start again, and as they say ‘if it was easy then everybody would be doing it!’

It is so easy to stop an exercise program, it is so easy to sit and put other things in front of you getting out and moving.

But once you have stopped, how do you start again?

Here are some tips to help you get started;

  1. Don’t try to start again where you left off. For example, if you were a runner, and the last run you went on was 10km don’t start back with a 10km run. Start back with 2 maybe 3km, ease your body back into movement again.

  2. Set small goals, like above with the running, start with smaller numbers to achieve. Set the goals that you KNOW you CAN achieve. Tick the little goals off the list takes the focus away from the larger goal that you have set, while it is also helping you move towards the big one.

  3. BE PROUD of everything that you achieve. After the session, you have completed tell yourself 3 positive things that you have achieved from the session. I am proud of myself for 1) showing up, 2) breaking the squats up and complete the rep count, and 3) I am proud that l finished the session.

  4. Mark out time in your daily schedule to exercise, mark the time out like you would a doctor’s appointment. From 3 to 4 pm today l am going for a walk, this is a non-negotiable.

  5. Set a clear ‘WHY’ to yourself as to why it is important for you to exercise. Exercise is important to me because l want to feel better about myself, l want my body to feel free again, and l know how great movement makes me feel mentally!

And always remember Energy flows where Energy goes! What you put in is what you will get out of the exercise time. There are so many more benefits to exercise that aren’t weight-related.

The hardest part about beginning is making the decision, you are worthy and valued…. Now how are you going to start?
